The National Aeronautics and Space Administration, also known as NASA, has been around for 64 years, and since then, it has managed to discover a lot of things, from meteors to new planets. The Science of NASA mainly focuses on creating awareness and a better understating of Earth through the Earth Observing System, exploring bodies through the solar system with the help of advanced robotic spacecraft such as planetary rovers and New Horizons, and researching astrophysics topics like the Big Bang using the James Webb Telescope.
It’s safe to say that NASA already has its work cut out for them, but it looks like they are going to have to increase its scope of work and add ‘space investigation’ to the list as well.

Double Crater; Double Trouble
It is not every day that you get to hear about a mysterious rocket crashing into the moon, not even for NASA. However, it is true. Reported by the agency, a statement stated that a rocket of ‘unknown origin’ had crashed into the moon earlier this year and produced a double crater on its surface of it.
The Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter, one of NASA’s agencies that collects data on the moon, witnessed two craters after the ‘mysterious rocket body’ collided with the moon on 4th March. It resulted in the creation of the eastern crater, which has a size of 19.5 yards in diameter, and a western crater that measures to be around 17.5 yards in diameter.
No One Claiming The Crash
NASA has reported that the formation of a double crater can indicate that the ‘mysterious’ rocket might have had a large mass on each end of it. However, a rocket that has utilized all of its fuels will only have mass on one end of the rocket – the end with the motor – while the other side will be just an empty fuel tank.
While there is no final verdict on where the rocket originated from, creating a double crater might give scientists an idea. The formation of a double crater holds great significance since this has never happened before, and The Houston Chronicle has reported that, as of yet, no space-exploring state has claimed the rocket to be theirs.

What Could The Possibilities Be?
While there is no claim on the rocket yet, it could be an unintentional rocket launch by any state, or it could even be a satellite that had crashed into the moon. There is no final answer to what could be the cause behind this, but it won’t be long till the answers come out. NASA has managed to explore a significant amount and has even managed to launch a space station. So, there is no doubt that it will also be easily able to find the origins of this ‘mysterious rocket’.

Could this mean that there are aliens out there that are trying to reach out?
